Entertainment News: A news that shocked the nation, Zubeen Garg, a renowned singer from Northeast India, passed away suddenly on September 19th. As news of his death spread, a wave of mourning swept across the country, with his fans in Assam in deep shock. Zubeen was not just a singer, but a cultural icon of Assam. Zubeen Garg had arrived in Singapore to perform at the fourth Northeast India Festival, scheduled for September 20, 2025. However, the tragic incident occurred just a day before the event. Initially, media reports claimed that Zubeen died from not wearing a life jacket while scuba diving. This news further shocked his fans. However, Zubeen's wife, Garima Saikia, has now completely refuted these claims and revealed the true cause of his death.
Speaking to the Times of India, Garima Saikia revealed that Zubin had gone to an island in Singapore on a yacht with seven or eight other members of his band. Drummers Shekhar and Siddharth were also part of the group. Garima clarified,"All members of the group were wearing life jackets. They all swam back to the yacht together. Zubin then went swimming again and suffered a seizure." She further explained that this wasn't the first time Zubin had suffered a seizure.
"He had suffered seizures several times before, but he had survived each time. There was also a similar incident here in Singapore, when the other members noticed something unusual and immediately rushed him to the hospital, which saved his life."
But this time, Zubin couldn't be saved. He was immediately taken to Singapore General Hospital, where he was kept in the ICU for two hours. Despite the best efforts of doctors, he couldn't be saved.
Zubeen Garg was not just a singer, but the voice of Northeast India. He recorded songs in over 40 languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, and Nepali. Many of his songs became blockbuster hits, and he was considered one of Assam's highest-paid singers. His popular songs brought him recognition not only in Assam but across the country. Zubeen's song "Ya Ali" catapulted him to national and international fame. His death has left a void in the music industry that will be difficult to fill.
